Overarching role

We believe that cooking with Gousto is more inspiring, more convenient and healthier than any alternative. We, therefore, want to make Gousto the most loved way to eat dinner. By deeply understanding our customers, anticipating their needs and building amazing products to meet them, we will create a product experience so sticky our customers can’t live without. Combined with world-class analytics and AI, we’ll offer every customer a unique product experience tailored to their needs.

You will ensure that our customers have the best possible experience. From the price that is paid to the sustainability and packaging of the product to the lead times and mechanism of delivery, there are so many ways to delight our customers.

You will work in close collaboration with our insights, tech, digital product and operations teams to come up with innovative non-food proposition improvements for our customers and bring them to reality at pace. You will also work in close collaboration with the growth team to ensure they are landed with both our existing and potential customers in the best way.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of four, currently made up of one innovation / strategy manager and three project managers. Build and develop this team, constantly thinking ahead to ensure we keep one step ahead as the business scales.

Proposition Strategy

Insights - work closely with our insights team to ensure that you fully understand our customers wants and needs. Keep up to date with external trends and competitor activity which may be relevant to us, bringing the outside in to the team and wider business.

Innovation - bring new and creative propositions to the table which can help step-change the business performance and help us achieve our 2022 vision of being the most loved way to eat dinner.

Proposition briefs - build proposition briefs which clearly and succinctly articulate the problems we’re trying to solve working cross functionally to kick off thinking on potential solutions. Work with insights to test early stage ideas to ensure we focus our efforts where they will have the biggest impact.

Pricing - own base pricing strategy, making sound recommendations on changes to optimise value in collaboration with our finance director.

Sustainability - own sustainability strategy, making sound recommendations on our vision and how we execute against it. Champion the sustainability vision throughout the business so that it becomes an important factor in decision making.

Delivery - own delivery proposition & pricing strategy to maximise delivery satisfaction and AOV.

Other - own and lead strategic initiatives on other key (non-food) areas of the business as and when they become a clear priority. Given the rate of change in the business this is difficult to clearly articulate. Whilst we may know pricing matters most now, it will likely be something else later.

Proposition Projects

Project management - project manage any customer big bets (non food) that require significant cross functional collaboration. Live examples would include our “next day delivery”, “plastic reduction” and “family de-duplication” projects

Collaboration - build relationships and influence all key stakeholders to deliver projects on time and in full. Employ exceptional problem solving to remove potential blockers. Where relevant, work as an embedded part of our Supply Tribe.

Activation - work closely with growth and digital product to bring our changes to life for our customers in an optimal way. Drive process to ensure we’re planning appropriately far ahead and balancing trade-offs between multiple initiatives.

Ad hoc - own and lead other projects as and when they are a priority to the business and where it is clear that the projects team can add value. These might include projects which support the Growth or Customer success tribes. (Projects to be assessed on a case by case basis to decide if cross functional complexity means that they will benefit from support).
